Worksmile (known as Fitqbe till 2020) is a benefit platform available in the SaaS model. The application combines wellbeing, gamification and business communication into a multifunctional cafeteria system. In the initial project phases the company had one server, but it soon became obvious that application development required a scalable infrastructure.

CHALLENGES

Developing a great application was half the battle, but then the Worksmile creators needed a stable, scalable infrastructure. Ordinary shared hosting was not enough in their case. The company also sought on-going technical support because its team lacked cloud competencies. However, the big players’ solutions were far from simple or easily accessible, thus forming a migration barrier. The economical aspect was also important. Worksmile as a startup did not have a big budget, so the Oktawave startup support program came as the perfect solution. It kept the fees in the initial project phase on a lower level, allowing the customer to test the infrastructure and its performance without time pressure.

The startup did not have to delegate an employee to deal with infrastructure. The low entry threshold was an important factor as Oktawave’s services are easy and transparent.

The Oktawave team suggested solutions which optimized the environment already at the preliminary stage of the project and thus lowered the infrastructure costs. Environment management was partially entrusted to the Cloud Operations specialists; the other part is still carried out by the customer. Worksmile also underwent short training in environment management. Any changes in the infrastructure are readily visible in the administration panel.
